Build planning
Balanced PC build recommendations
Balanced systems match each processor with a graphics card of similar tier, pair them with suitable memory and storage, and leave enough power and cooling headroom for the whole build. Use these criteria as a starting point for comparing parts.
Hardware tiers
Three starter configurations
Each tier pairs a processor and graphics card of comparable performance, with wattage and motherboard chipset noted for each combination. Confirm final part choices against current listings before ordering.
Tier one
Everyday productivity
A mid-range processor with an integrated or entry graphics card, 16 GB of DDR5 memory, and a 1 TB NVMe drive. Pair with a B650 motherboard and a 550 W power supply.
Tier two
Balanced play and creation
A mid-tier processor with a mid-range graphics card, 32 GB of DDR5 memory at a fast speed, and 2 TB of NVMe storage. Pair with a B650 or X670 motherboard and a 750 W power supply.
Tier three
High-end workloads
A high-end processor with a high-end graphics card, 64 GB of DDR5 memory, and 4 TB of NVMe storage. Pair with an X670 motherboard and a 1000 W power supply with airflow-focused case cooling.
Verification
Check each build before ordering
Run through these checks against the manufacturer specifications for every part you select. Confirm that the power supply covers the combined rated draw with headroom, that the cooler fits the case and clears the memory, and that the motherboard chipset supports your processor and memory type.
